Job Title: Sr. Endo Tech Profession: Sr. Endo Tech Specialty: Sr. Endo Tech Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Variable Shift - Monday to Friday Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with weekday and weekend call. Experience: Two years of gastroenterology/operating room experience is preferred. License: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Must-Have: High School Education/GED or equivalent is required. Associates/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience is preferred. Description: Works in the gastroenterology lab under the direction of registered nurses. Assists gastroenterologists with various GI procedures and related work as required. Responsible for the care of adult and geriatric patients. Works under minimal supervision. Mentors and trains staff on technical skills. Demonstrates and practices competencies related to endoscopic procedures. Includes proper disinfection, care, and handling of endoscopes. Assists physicians with procedures, endoscopy room set-up, and cleaning. Handles specimen collection and supervises sterilization processes. Maintains quality control of sterilization and terminal cleaning processes. Understands and practices principles of universal precautions and hazardous materials management. Cleans, tests, processes, and stores endoscopes and other clinical equipment. Complies with Universal Protocol and National Patient Safety Goals. Demonstrates competence in scope washing, disinfecting, storing, quality testing, and documenting. Transports patients between departments. Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide direct care to endoscopy patients. Collaborates with registered nurses. Displays a positive attitude within the nursing department and across the division. Contributes to the organization's customer service program. Inventories supplies and communicates inventory needs. Obtains equipment, supplies, and linen for endoscopy cases. Collects data for performance improvement. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
