Key Responsibilities of the Ophthalmic Technician- Escort patients to and from exam rooms
- Obtain a complete history focusing on patients' eye symptoms
- Review patient allergies and medications
- Perform visual acuity tests and measure intraocular pressure
- Administer eye drops in preparation for exams
- Conduct visual fields, A/B scans, OCT, fundus photography, and more
- Monitor provider schedules and patient flow
- Maintain exam room supplies and equipment
- Participate in training and continuing education
Requirements of the Ophthalmic Technician- High School diploma or GED
- Certified as COA, COT, COMT by JCAHPO
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- BLS certification
