Seven Healthcare are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician to join their esteemed team under a travel assignment in Boston, MA. This role focuses on providing critical support in a clinical environment, assisting in patient preparation and preliminary eye function testing.

Key Responsibilities of the Ophthalmic Technician
  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms
  • Take complete patient histories with a focus on eye symptoms
  • Review allergies and medications
  • Perform visual acuity tests and measure intraocular pressure using tonopens and applanation
  • Administer eye drops in preparation for eye exams
  • Conduct visual fields, A/B ultrasonic scans, autorefraction, OCT, fundus photography, lensometry, and topography
  • Perform refractions
  • Monitor provider schedules and patient flow
  • Coordinate patient records and information
  • Maintain and stock exam rooms and equipment
  • Train on the job for new tasks and skills
  • Participate in employer-sponsored training and continuing education

Requirements of the Ophthalmic Technician
  • GED or high school diploma
  • Certification as COA, COT, or COMT by JCAHPO
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience
  • BLS Certification
  • Vocational or technical training in an accredited program preferred
