Job Title: GI/Endo Tech Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: GI/Endoscopy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: 1 year experience required; first timers accepted License: Active compact license required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Previous charge experience Description: Previous permanent staff are not permitted to work as travelers. All facilities honor active compact licenses. 1 year of experience is required, but first timers are accepted. This position involves working in an outpatient endoscopy center. Key skills include working with dilators, electrosurgical units, endoscopes, forceps, and polyp snares. Experience with procedure setup for bronchoscopes, colonoscopes, EGD scopes, and endobronchial ultrasound scopes is necessary. Knowledge of high-level disinfection and closing of the room at the end of the day is expected. Candidates should be familiar with instrument processing and cleaning, as well as restocking room supplies. Additional responsibilities include gastric brushing, handling pathology specimens, and performing colonoscopy and EGD procedures. Attention to infection control and sterilization/disinfection protocols is critical. Familiarity with universal protocol procedures is required. Experience in inpatient settings is preferred. Candidates should have the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and manage patient care effectively.
