Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Bethpage, NY

Pay: $1,829.20 per week

Shifts: 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM

Seven Healthcare are seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician for a travel assignment in Bethpage, NY. This role is within a large, busy state-of-the-art off-site reprocessing center that provides sterile processing services for nine facilities, including tertiary sites and ambulatory surgery centers.

Key Responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Technician
  • Dissembles, cleans, sterilizes, reassembles, and packages sterile supplies following specifications and/or manufacturer instructions.
  • Operates washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, heat sealers, and additional equipment during sterilization procedures.
  • Adheres to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts.
  • Retrieves used trays, instruments, and equipment from various surgical and clinical hospital areas for decontamination.
  • Examines instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality.
  • Identifies malfunctioning items, records related information, and promptly notifies supervisor or biomedical engineer.
  • Assists in ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels.
  • Performs required duties to maintain a contaminant-free work environment.

Requirements of the Sterile Processing Technician
  • Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPD) - must not expire during term of assignment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: 2 years in a tertiary setting or 1 year of certified experience with 4 years of SPT experience in tertiary setting
  • Proficient in the use of STERIS Washers, Autoclave
  • Experience with SynergyTrak IT system
  • Ability to lift/carry 25 pounds, required
  • Manual dexterity, ability to stand, bend, lift, and/or reach for extended periods, required
  • Effective communication skills in English (verbal and written)
