Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Bethpage, NY

Pay: $1,763.20 per week

Shifts: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM, every other weekend required

Seven Healthcare are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician for an exciting travel assignment in Bethpage, NY. This role involves working in a large, state-of-the-art off-site reprocessing center that serves multiple facilities, including tertiary sites and ambulatory surgery centers, providing critical sterile processing services and emergency support.

Key Responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Technician
  • Disassemble, clean, sterilize, reassemble, and package sterile supplies following specifications and department protocols
  • Operate washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, and additional equipment during sterilization procedures
  • Adhere to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts
  • Retrieve used trays, instruments, and equipment from various surgical and clinical hospital areas for decontamination
  • Examine instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality
  • Assist in ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels
  • Ensure a contaminant-free work environment

Requirements of the Sterile Processing Technician
  • Valid Sterile Processing Technician certification (CRCST or CSPD)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of certified experience in a tertiary setting or 1 year of certified experience with 4 years of SPT experience in a tertiary setting
  • Experience with STERIS Washers, Autoclave equipment, and SynergyTrak IT System
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and rotate through all work areas, including decontamination
  • Ability to lift/carry 25 pounds, manual dexterity, and ability to stand, bend, lift, and reach for extended periods required
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written
