Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Bethpage, NY

Pay: $1,763.20 per week

Shifts: 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM

Seven Healthcare are seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for a temporary travel assignment in Bethpage, NY. This role involves working in a large, busy, state-of-the-art off-site reprocessing center that provides sterile processing services for multiple facilities, including tertiary sites and ambulatory surgery centers. The center is also equipped to provide emergency services to the area.

Key Responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Technician
  • Disassemble, clean, sterilize, reassemble, and package sterile supplies according to specifications and department protocols
  • Operate washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam, and ethylene oxide sterilizers, as well as heat sealers and additional equipment during sterilization procedures
  • Adhere to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts
  • Retrieve used trays, instruments, and equipment from various surgical and clinical hospital areas for decontamination
  • Examine instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality
  • Identify malfunctioning items, record related information, and promptly notify supervisor or biomedical engineer
  • Assist in ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels
  • Perform required duties to maintain a contaminant-free work environment

Requirements of the Sterile Processing Technician
  • Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPD) must be valid throughout the assignment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of certified experience in a tertiary setting, or one year of certified experience with four years of SPT experience in a tertiary setting
  • Experience operating STERIS Washers and Autoclave; familiarity with IT System: SynergyTrak
