Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Bethpage, NY

Pay: $1,763.20 weekly

Shifts: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (includes every other weekend)

Seven Healthcare are seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Technician for a large and busy off-site reprocessing center in Bethpage, NY. This is a travel assignment where you'll be supporting multiple facilities, including tertiary sites and ambulatory surgery centers, with advanced sterile processing services.

Key Responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Technician
  • Disassemble, clean, sterilize, reassemble, and package sterile supplies following specifications and department protocols
  • Operate washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, heat sealers, and additional equipment
  • Adhere to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts
  • Retrieve used trays, instruments, and equipment from various hospital areas for decontamination
  • Examine instruments and equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality
  • Assist in ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels
  • Perform duties to maintain a contaminant-free work environment

Requirements of the Sterile Processing Technician
  • Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPD, must not expire during the assignment)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of certified experience in a tertiary setting or 1 year of certified experience with 4 years of SPT experience in a tertiary setting
  • Experience with STERIS Washers, Autoclave, and SynergyTrak IT System
  • Ability to lift/carry 25 pounds, and manual dexterity to stand, bend, lift, and/or reach for extended periods
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written
