Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Bethpage, NY

Pay: $1,763.20 weekly

Shifts: 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM, every other weekend required

Seven Healthcare are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician for a travel assignment in Bethpage, NY. This role involves working in a large, state-of-the-art off-site reprocessing center that provides sterile processing services for multiple facilities, including tertiary sites and ambulatory surgery centers. The position requires a certified professional to manage essential tasks in this dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Technician
  • Disassemble, clean, sterilize, reassemble, and package sterile supplies according to specifications and/or manufacturer instructions following department protocols.
  • Operate washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, heat sealers, and additional equipment during sterilization procedures.
  • Adhere to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts.
  • Retrieve used trays, instruments, and equipment from various surgical and clinical hospital areas for decontamination.
  • Examine instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality.
  • Identify malfunctioning items, record related information, and promptly notify supervisor or biomedical engineer.
  • Assist in ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels.
  • Perform required duties to maintain a contaminant-free work environment.

Requirements of the Sterile Processing Technician
  • Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPD), must not expire during the term of assignment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • 2 years of certified experience in a tertiary setting or 1 year with 4 years of SPT experience in tertiary settings
  • Ability to work with STERIS Washers, Autoclave, and SynergyTrak IT System
  • Ability to lift/carry 25 pounds, stand, bend, and reach for extended periods, required
  • Effective communication in English (verbally and in writing)
