Key Responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Technician

• Inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instrument pans, procedural trays, and case carts
• Operate steam sterilizers and maintain proper levels of time, pressure, and temperature
• Check and adjust medical equipment to ensure proper operation
• Decontaminate surgical instruments and prevent cross-contamination
• Receive, store, and document supplies stock received from vendors
• Perform quality assurance checks on sterile supplies and instruments

Requirements of the Sterile Processing Technician

• Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD)
• BLS certification
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as SPT
• Large hospital experience (500 beds plus)
• Travel experience (6 months)
• 2 professional references from the last two experiences
