Key Responsibilities of the Full Time Patient Care Technician - Emergency Department
  • Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, patient transport, hygiene care, vital signs, weights, pulse oximetry, and assist with procedures
  • Input radiology, laboratory, and EKG orders accurately in Meditech
  • Maintain departmental filing system, manage mail, and ensure organized record-keeping
  • Monitor and order supplies, restock rooms, and maintain cleanliness and order
  • Manage communication within the department and assist visitors courteously
  • Enter patient orders, discharges, and transfers accurately into Meditech
  • Keep patients and families informed about care processes during their emergency visits
  • Monitor patient condition changes and report promptly
  • Ensure safe patient handling and mobility
  • Assist with wound care, splinting, and sterile dressing setup under supervision
  • Follow infection prevention and isolation protocols diligently
  • Document patient care and observations accurately as per policy
  • Maintain and report equipment malfunctions promptly

Requirements of the Full Time Patient Care Technician - Emergency Department
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current BLS certification (must be through AHA or RQI)
  • Minimum one year of acute care experience in a hospital setting
  • Computer literacy is required
