Surgical Technician – Orthopedic Experience Required

Contract | Onsite

• Function as part of the surgical healthcare team, providing technical support to surgeons, RNs, and anesthesia providers in the operating room under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
• Arrange, count, and pass surgical instruments and sterile supplies to the surgeon throughout procedures; assist with applying dressings and preparing and preserving specimens
• Operate sterilizers and perform tests to validate and verify sterilization of surgical instruments in the Sterile Processing area
• Clean and decontaminate surgical instruments following use; inspect instruments before and after cases for proper sterility and working condition
• Inspect sterile items for contamination prior to opening and maintain sterility while opening items for procedures
• Check supplies for outdates, restock the operating room, and order supplies to maintain adequate inventory

• Certified Surgical Technician (CST) credential required
• Minimum of 5 years of current experience as a Surgical Technician
• Orthopedic surgical experience required
• Must be registered as a Surgical Technician with the State of Colorado
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of aseptic principles in varying surgical situations
• Ability to withstand long periods of standing, walking, and heavy lifting; exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases possible

• Experience in sterile processing operations and instrument decontamination workflows
• Ability to perform effectively under moderate to high stress and adapt to a wide variety of surgical situations
