Job Title: Certified Surgical Technician Profession: Surgical Technician Specialty: Surgical Technician Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 11:45 AM - 07:45 PM Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum Years of Experience not specified License: Not specified Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Experience with DaVinci XI and scrubbing posterior eye and eye trauma is a plus. Description: We have two operating departments. One department has 26 rooms and provides level one trauma services. The other department has a mix of 7 inpatient and outpatient operating rooms. Your primary assignment will be in the 7-room unit, but floating to other areas will be required as necessary. When overstaffed or when procedures in the primary rooms conclude early, staff may float to other areas. Typical surgical load in the 7-room unit includes: General Surgery - Mainly hernias, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, Nissen fundoplications, PEG placements, and GI procedures. Colorectal Surgery - Open and laparoscopic bowel resections, some robotic procedures. Gynecology - Various oncological and benign procedures, including open, laparoscopic, robotic surgeries, D&C, hysteroscopy, LEEP, and tubal ligations. Urology - Cystoscopy, stent placements, TURB, TURP, percutaneous procedures, open, laparoscopic, and robotic nephrectomies and cystectomies, including gender affirmation procedures with phalloplasty. Breast Surgery - Biopsies, mastectomies with and without lymph node dissection, and reconstructive surgeries. Eye Surgery - Limited to three times a month, includes plastics, cataracts, and vitrectomies. Brachytherapy - Assisting with device insertions, primarily handled by the radiation oncology team. Plastic Surgery - Usually performed in conjunction with breast or gender affirmation procedures. Uro-Gynecology - Sling placements and anterior-posterior repairs. Robotics - Mainly focused on urology and gynecology procedures, with some bariatric cases. The unit operates Monday through Friday and typically concludes operations by 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Early completion may result in floating to other departments to fulfill staffing needs. The main operating room handles various other surgical services. Obligations include two weekend call shifts per contract, with no additional weekend requirements.
