Job Title: Cardiac Surgical Technologist Profession: Surgical Tech Specialty: Cardiac Surgery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12.0 Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Two years of recent experience in a cardiac operating room License: Required Tech License (NY License ONLY) Certifications: BLS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY) Must-Have: - Recent experience in a cardiac operating room - Ability to scrub and circulate Description: The Adult Cardiac OR cares for a wide variety of patients. This includes CABG, TAVI, heart failure (VADs, ECMO, artificial heart, and heart transplants). Using a multidisciplinary approach, the OR staff cares for patients of all ages. The Surgical Technologist will provide technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures. This role includes assisting the surgical team from the scrub position during an operation. Responsibilities include the proper care and handling of instruments and facilitating room turnover between cases. The Surgical Technologist must maintain sterile technique and safe handling of sharps. Performance of surgical counts will be done as per hospital policy. Demonstration of proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under the direction of a registered nurse is required. Candidates must have two years of recent experience in a cardiac operating room.
