Job Title: Surgical Technologist Profession: Surgical Tech Specialty: Surgical Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable Shift Hours per Shift: 9 hours Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years relevant acute care experience preferred License: National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certification preferred Certifications: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred Must-Have: - Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology required Description: Facilitates physician's performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures. Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure. Constantly monitors the maintenance of the sterile field. Verifies surgery to be performed with consent forms and brings patients to the assigned operating room. Passes instruments to the surgeon during procedures. Anticipates the surgeon's needs for additional supplies. Performs appropriate counts with the circulator prior to the operation and before incision closure. Prepares sterile dressings. Secures dressings after incision closure. Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures. Obtains appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for procedures. Sets up sterile tables with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures. Helps drape the sterile field. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Assists other team members with cleaning of the room for turnover. Assists in prepping the room for the next patient. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Commits to the safety and wellbeing of all associates and patients. Required vaccinations must be received as a condition of employment. Medical and religious exemptions may apply. Participates in E-Verify. Total Bed Count: 3 operating rooms, 1 endoscopy room. Staffing Ratios: Days 1:4 teams, Nights 1:1 call team, Weekends 1:1 call team. Types of procedures include joints, general, gynecology, urology, ENT, podiatry, and endoscopy. Support staff for cleaning instruments and scopes is available. Minimum call of 1 night a week and 1 weekend a month required. Shifts are 4 days, 9 hours per day for a total of 36 hours a week. Weekend coverage is required.
