ID: 77896539 Shift: 10:00 PM-06:30 AM Description: 1201 W 38th StreetAustin, TX 78705Inspects, assembles and evaluates all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure quality, determine need for repair/replacement, validates completeness of set, and facilitates effective sterilization. sterilization equipment and inspects instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.|Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.|Corrects instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.|Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.|The schedule for this contract is Monday - Friday from 10:00pm to 6:30am Unit Description: Ascension Seton Medical Center AustinThe sterile processing department provides processing of instrumentation for the OR, L&D and acute care departments. The OR averages 60 cases daily during the week and L&D averages 20-25 deliveries per day. The department staffs three shifts 7 days per week with a combination of 8- and 10-hour shifts. Minimum 5 years of recent, full-time experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in a high-volume hospital setting, with demonstrated proficiency in all phases including decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and case cart preparation candidates with less experience or requiring extensive onboarding will not be considered.Current CRCST certification (or equivalent) required, along with proven track record of independent operation in decontamination areas without supervision; must provide verifiable references from at least two prior travel assignments confirming no training was needed.Extensive hands-on knowledge of AAMI standards, OSHA regulations, and Joint Commission guidelines for sterile processing, including immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS) protocols applicants unfamiliar with these will be disqualified.Experience handling complex instrument trays for specialties such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, and cardiology, with the ability to identify and resolve issues autonomously in fast-paced environments; no entry-level or partially trained techs accepted.
