Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA)

Key Responsibilities- Provide first assist services across a high-volume main OR with 14 suites averaging 28 cases per day including add-ons
- Assist in a broad range of surgical cases including neuro spine, total joints, open fractures, general surgery, and ENT; orthopedic proficiency is essential
- Participate in weekend and weeknight call rotations, including one 12-hour weekday call shift per week and one 24-hour weekend call shift per month
- Maintain a 20-minute call response time; candidates living more than 20 minutes from the facility may be required to remain on-site during call
- Assist with room turnover as needed; no dedicated housekeeping or aides are available for this task
- Collaborate within a 1:1 OR ratio environment utilizing EPIC EMR
Required Qualifications- Active BLS certification required
- CST and CSFA certifications required; ABSA certifications are not accepted
- Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Assistant program required
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a surgical first assistant in the specialty
- Minimum of 2–3 previous travel assignments required
- Demonstrated proficiency assisting in orthopedic surgical cases
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience with neuro and spine surgical cases strongly preferred
- Scrubbing ability is a plus, though not required
- Familiarity with EPIC EMR preferred
