Job Title: Certified Surgical First Assist Profession: CSFA Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 5 shifts per week, 36 guarantee Experience: Minimum of 3 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, Certified Surgical First Assist via NBSTSA Must-Have: Must have 3 years of surgical technologist experience. Must have experience in general and orthopedic surgery, specifically total joints. Experience in a facility with Trauma Levels 3 & 4 and/or Critical Access Hospitals is preferred. Description: The department consists of 7 operating suites. The average number of cases per day ranges from 5 to 25. The common cases include general surgery, orthopedic/sports medicine, plastics and cosmetics, podiatry, cataracts/eye procedures, and OB/GYN/women's health (non-cancer related). Candidates should be comfortable transitioning between scrubbing and assisting roles. Scheduling includes 5 shifts of 8 hours each, typically from 0645 to 1515. There may be late stay and on-call rotations as well as block scheduling. Flexibility to accommodate scheduling needs is important. On-call requirements may include weekday evenings 1-2 times per week. Weekend on-call may consist of 1-2 times per month with 24-hour shifts. Candidates may be required to participate in holiday call rotations. Call response time is expected to be within 30 minutes. There may be floating requirements to assist in roles such as scrub, PACU, or sterile processing. Scrub color and dress code are provided by the facility. Candidates are expected to arrive presentable to the facility. Unit-specific orientation will include shifts with a preceptor. This is a rural community hospital, and a wide variety of cases are performed.
