Job Title: OR Tech First Assistant Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: OR Tech First Assistant Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 5x8 (07:30 - 16:00) Experience: Minimum 2 years preferred License: Active state license required Certifications: BLS, CRNFA*, NBSTSA* Must-Have: - Experience in a multispecialty OR setting - Ability to perform various surgical assistance tasks - Comfortable floating to assist in C-section cases Description: The position involves working in a multispecialty OR setting. The OR typically handles cases in general surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, podiatry, endoscopy, and vascular procedures. The average daily census is approximately 15 patients. The patient age range varies from pediatrics to geriatrics. No trauma, cardiac, or robotics procedures are performed in this unit. The role includes participation in special procedures like abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, total joint surgeries, and gynecological procedures. Candidates must have experience assisting with general surgeries and implementing aseptic techniques. Familiarity with instruments such as Stryker video/power systems and arthroscopes is preferred. Candidates are required to work weekends on a rotating basis and will be on-call one shift per week, including one weekend every 4-5 weeks. The role requires a commitment to working holidays as scheduled. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective skills in surgical assistance and maintain a high standard of patient care. Strong teamwork and communication abilities are essential for successful collaboration with surgical teams.
