Position: Sterile Processing Technician 1 (SPD Tech 1 - Evening) $$SN$$
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Shift: Evenings – Monday-Friday (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM)
Duration: 13 weeks
Job Duties
• Perform decontamination, disassembly, cleaning, inspection, reassembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Prepare and process instrument trays according to department policies, procedures, AAMI standards, and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFU).
• Perform manual and mechanical cleaning of reusable instrumentation and inspect instruments for cleanliness, defects, and functionality.
• Utilize electronic testing equipment to inspect electrosurgical instruments and cables for defects.
• Sterilize instrument sets and accurately document processing parameters within the SPD information system.
• Prepare supplies for same-day and next-day surgical cases and support Operating Room needs.
• Restock specialty carts and Omnicells as needed.
• Respond to internal and external customer requests, including STAT and ASAP needs.
• Maintain accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment requiring strong attention to detail and critical thinking.
