Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Tech Specialty: Sterile Processing Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience Required License: N/A Certifications: N/A Must-Have: - ASSEMBLING PROCEDURE TRAYS - CLEANING PROCEDURE TRAYS - DISINFECTING PROCEDURE TRAYS - STERILIZING PROCEDURE TRAYS - STORING PROCEDURE TRAYS Description: The position is responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and storing procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment. Also assembles, distributes, and delivers disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to meet the needs of the Operating Room, Nursing Units, and Ancillary Departments. Operates and monitors sterilization equipment. Disassembles carts and follows Universal Precautions for decontamination. Sterilizes and disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments, packages clean supplies and instruments, maintains records for all instruments, and transports sterilized items. Assembles sterilized instruments and rechecks all instruments for cleanliness and impairment. Takes measures to allow for easy instrument tracking, including following labeling processes, reporting, and documenting all missing instruments and implants replaced in trays. Communicates the equipment and instrument inventory status with Central Processing staff. Responds to emergency situations by ensuring all emergency, trauma, and add-on cases are supplied properly and delivered to the Operating Room in a timely manner. Utilizes technology to accurately facilitate record keeping in accordance with regulations. Provides on-the-job training to newly hired associates in the department. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization and abides by service behavior standards. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to float to other departments based on business needs. May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift. Ability to communicate effectively within a multi-functional team. Experience and understanding in the use of computers, and the ability to learn software relevant to Sterile Processing. Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
