Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Tech Specialty: Sterile Processing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable Hours per Shift: Tuesday through Friday = 0700-1530 & Saturday 0900-1730 Experience: 1+ years of experience preferred License: N/A Certifications: CRCST through HSPA or CBSPD Required Must-Have: - Knowledge of sterile processing - Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team - Experience and understanding in the use of computers - Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment Description: The position is responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and storing procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment. Also assembles, distributes, and delivers disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to fill the needs of the Operating Room, Nursing Units, Ancillary Departments, and Clinics. Operates and monitors sterilization equipment. Disassembles carts and follows Universal Precautions for decontamination. Sterilizes and disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments, packages clean supplies and instruments, maintains records for all instruments, and transports sterilized items. Assembles sterilized instruments and rechecks all instruments for cleanliness and impairment. Properly checks power equipment. Takes measures to allow for easy instrument tracking, including following labeling processes, use of engraver, and documenting all missing instruments and implants replaced in trays. Communicates the equipment and instrument inventory status with the staff and Surgery Charge Nurse, including order status, back orders, and changes. Responds to emergency situations by ensuring all emergency and trauma cases are supplied properly and delivered to the Operating Room in a timely manner. Utilizes applications and technology to accurately facilitate record keeping in accordance with regulations. Provides on-the-job training to newly hired associates in the department. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization and abides by service behavior standards. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to float to other departments based on business needs. May be required to be placed on call during regularly scheduled shifts.
