Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Tech Specialty: Sterile Processing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Friday-Saturday Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1+ years of experience preferred License: N/A Certifications: CRCST through HSPA or CBSPD required Must-Have: - High School diploma or equivalent - Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team - Experience in the use of computers and ability to learn relevant software - Ability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment - Previous experience in a hospital or clinic operating room preferred Description: The position is responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and/or storing procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment. Also assembles, distributes, and/or delivers disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to meet the needs of the Operating Room, Nursing Units, and Ancillary Departments. Operates and monitors sterilization equipment. Disassembles carts and follows Universal Precautions for decontamination. Sterilizes, disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments, packages clean supplies and instruments, and maintains records for all instruments. Transports sterilized items to the appropriate area. Assembles sterilized instruments and rechecks all items for cleanliness and/or impairment. Properly checks power equipment. Takes measures to allow for easy instrument tracking, including following labeling processes and documenting all missing instruments and implants replaced in trays. Communicates the equipment and instrument inventory status with staff including order status and back orders. Responds to emergency situations by ensuring all emergency, trauma, and add-on cases are supplied and delivered in a timely manner. Utilizes applications and technology for accurate record keeping in accordance with regulations. Provides on-the-job training to newly hired associates in the department. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and abides by service behavior standards. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to float to other departments based on business need. May be required to be placed on-call during scheduling shifts.
