Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Mid Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Compact or state license required Certifications: IAHCSMM/HSPA, CRCST, CSPDT Must-Have: - No first-time travelers; must have a trackable work history. - Must have a minimum of 3 years experience at a Level I or II hospital. - Must have experience with specific sterilization equipment including Sterilizer, Sterrad Machine, and Ultrasonic units. - Must be certified with appropriate credentials. Description: The individual in this role is responsible for ensuring the proper sterilization and processing of surgical instruments. This includes the use of specific sterilization methods and equipment to prepare tools for surgical procedures. The technician may be assigned to an "Emergency Team" based on the unit manager's discretion. There will be an expectation to remain on-site during emergency events or functions. Candidates should be comfortable with potential extended hours during unforeseen situations. A specific checklist must be completed and submitted for application. Experience in various specialties including orthopedic, urology, and robotics is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency with key sterilization and decontamination processes. The interview process will include questions regarding instrument tracking systems and decontamination methods. Teamwork and communication skills are crucial for successful collaboration in this role. Instruments must be checked for functionality and cleanliness before use. Flexibility and readiness for dynamic environments are essential for this position. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of sterilization process parameters and monitoring standards. Responsibilities will include organizing and labeling instrument trays appropriately. All selected candidates must comply with vaccination requirements for COVID-19 and flu, with exemptions allowed for medical or religious reasons.
