Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Mid Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years License: Pending License accepted: Yes Certifications: BLS, CBSPD, IAHCSMM/HSPA Must-Have: Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for up to 5 hours. Description: The position requires experience handling various chemical agents for decontamination and disinfectants. Candidates must be proficient in the use of washers and sterilizers. Knowledge of sterilization wrapping procedures is essential. Experience in sets/trays assembly is required. Familiarity with specialty areas including Dental, Ear/Nose/Throat, General, Laparoscopic, Client, Orthopedics, Plastics, Robotics, and Urology is needed. Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as necessary. Knowledge of an acute hospital operating room environment is advantageous. Candidates must be flexible with scheduling. There are no weekend requirements for this role. Required skills include working with automated endoscope reprocessors and familiarity with high-level disinfection processes. Candidates must be able to manage steam sterilization testing and monitoring. Experience with both orthopedic and neurological service lines is preferred. Knowledge of cardiovascular services is also needed. Candidates should be prepared for a fast-paced work environment in a high-acuity setting. Special procedures and unit details require proficiency in immediate-use steam sterilization. All applicants must undergo compliance requirements as part of the hiring process.
