Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Pending License accepted Certifications: BLS, CBSPD, IAHCSMM/HSPA Must-Have: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for up to 5 hours Description: The Sterile Processing Technician will engage in the decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments. Knowledge of chemical agents for decontamination and disinfectants is required. The technician will use washers and sterilizers effectively. Familiarity with sterilization wrapping procedures is essential. Experience in assembly of surgical sets and trays for various surgical specialties is necessary. Candidates should be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment with a high acuity patient population. The role requires regular floating between departments, units, and facilities as needed. Applicants must have experience with orthopedic, neurological, and cardiovascular service lines. Weekend shifts are not required, providing flexibility in scheduling. First-time applicants are welcome. A daily volume of around 250 surgical trays is expected. The facility is a Level 1 trauma center. Staff must maintain knowledge of sterilization and cleaning protocols for various medical instruments. Skills in the use of Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER) and high-level disinfection procedures are preferred. The technician will ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to provide high-quality patient care is essential. Training on equipment documentation and proper selection of wrapping materials will be part of the responsibilities. A sound understanding of endoscopic procedures and reprocessing is necessary. Overall, the role is crucial to maintaining a sterile environment for surgical procedures.
