Job Title: Sr. Special Procedures Technologist Profession: Special Procedures Technologist Specialty: Special Procedures Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable Shift - M-F start 7am, 8am, or 9am (Staggered shifts). Call Schedule - anything after hours Experience: Preferred three years' technical experience and experience as Special Procedures Technologist License: Required Radiologic Tech (RT) in the state of practice Certifications: Required American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS), Fluoroscopy (FLUORO), and Prevention and Management of Violent Behavior (PVMB) or Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or TEAM-A or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Description: Perform, assist, and complete cardiac and vascular radiographic examinations. Perform active radiographic interventional procedures in the cardiovascular lab using complicated and sophisticated equipment. Operate equipment to produce digital images of designated body portions, as ordered by physicians. Position and instruct patients for examinations and perform specialized studies. Provide clinical care efficiently and effectively using a high level of technical and organizational skills as well as critical thinking ability. Model, mentor, and train staff on technical skills. Provide input into hiring and promotion decisions for staff. Operate diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast-enhanced radiographs of the heart and cardiovascular system during cardiac catheterization to aid physicians in diagnostic evaluation and treatment. Position and immobilize patients on examining tables, using specified protocols. Assist physicians with specialized procedures, including special exams. Enter technical factors determined by protocol into the computer. Raise and lower examining tables and manipulate and position x-ray tubes in response to instructions from physicians. Start automatic injection of contrast medium into blood vessels of patients. Activate fluoroscope and motion picture camera to produce images that assist physicians in guiding catheters through the cardiovascular system. Provide patients with procedure explanations in preparation for exams and provide clear discharge instructions. Observe gauges, recorder, and video screens that indicate blood pressure, cardiac output, and respiration during imaging of the cardiovascular system. Alert physicians to changes in patient responses. Monitor and control environmental factors, like temperature, humidity, and electrical safety. Assist physicians in interventional procedures, such as instilling enzymes or inserting balloons in blood vessels to remove plaque or other blockages. Maintain accurate and updated documentation, adhering to program standards. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Adhere to safety and wellbeing requirements, including receiving all required vaccinations as a condition of employment.
