Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU (SICU) position requiring transplant experience, a minimum of 2 years of specialty experience, and a valid LA or Compact RN license.
Details
- High-acuity SICU setting within a large academic medical center
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
- Floating required to other ICUs and Step-Down Units (SDUs)
- Patient population includes general post-op surgical recovery, transplant recovery (liver, heart, lung, kidney, pancreas), and post-cardiac surgery patients
- Procedures and therapies include management of PA catheters, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT/CVVHD)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Block scheduling requests are not accepted
Requirements
- Active LA or Compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of SICU or equivalent specialty experience required
- Transplant experience (liver, heart, lung, kidney, and/or pancreas) is a hard requirement — candidates without this will not be considered
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- PA catheter and intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) experience preferred
- Experience with ventilator management, arterial lines, central lines, cardiac drips, and vasoactive drips required
- CRRT/CVVHD experience required
- Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility (based on address on driver's license) — local candidates are not accepted
- 2 Manager/Supervisor references will be required prior to contract start (Charge RN references are not acceptable)
- NURSYS report required
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include post-op surgical and transplant recovery care, management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
- Upon accepting an assignment, candidates may be designated to an Emergency Team and expected to remain at the facility or serve on a relief team during emergency events
- Candidates who are not comfortable with emergency event expectations should not apply for this role
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have been separated from the Ochsner Health System for at least 1 full year before being eligible to return as a travel nurse
- Orientation is held 5 days a week; required modules are completed during orientation hours
- Any requested time off (RTO) must be discussed during the interview — failure to do so may result in a rescinded offer
- All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
