Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical/Special Care Unit (SCU/IMC) night shift position requiring a Maine or compact RN license and ICU/SCU experience.

Details

  • Work in the SCU/IMC unit of a hospital setting, with occasional Med-Surg and rare Swing patients
  • 8-bed unit with patient ratios ranging from 1:1 to 4:1
  • Night shift schedule from 5:45 PM to 6:15 AM
  • Every other weekend minimum required
  • No call requirements for core hours
  • Occasional floating to Med-Surg required, within a 25-mile float policy between facilities
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • Utilizes ventilators, ceiling lifts, Plumb pumps, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and SCD boots

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Maine or Compact) required
  • BLS and other AHA certifications required, with completion allowed before start if submitted via non-AHA provider
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
  • Experience with vasoactive drips and ventilator management required
  • ICU/SCU experience preferred
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred
  • Driver's License required for consideration
  • Two professional references required

Additional Information

  • Provide critical and intermediate care nursing to SCU/IMC patients, managing ventilators and vasoactive drips as needed
  • Ideal candidates are down-to-earth, proactive team players with high standards
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Air pods, laptops, and cell phone usage are prohibited on the unit
  • Local candidates residing within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility are considered local and are not eligible for renewals or extensions
  • RTO should be minimal, with 3-4 days considered reasonable for a 13-week contract at manager's discretion
  • Candidates who have worked at any MaineHealth facility within the past 12 months should disclose this upon consideration
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
