Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Neuro Trauma Intermediate PCU/Step Down position requiring 1 year of ICU experience and MO or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in a 26-bed Neuro Trauma Intermediate PCU/Step Down unit within a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center
  • Care for neuro, trauma, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory distress, and insulin drip patients
  • Patient ratios of 3:1 or 4:1
  • Utilizes Philips monitors, chest tubes, art lines, wound vacs, drains, EVDs, Nicom, BIPAP, and Airvo equipment
  • EMR system is EPIC
  • Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • 13-week assignment length
  • Weekend hours required as needed by facility
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floats on a rotational basis to critical care cluster or med/surg
  • Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available the entire orientation week

Requirements

  • Active RN license eligible for Missouri licensure or current MO/compact RN license
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA only
  • Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience required, inpatient only
  • Experience in an intermediate-level ICU setting preferred
  • Team player personality fit
  • Ability to stand and walk for most of shift
  • Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs, pinch up to 15 lbs, and perform minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Ability to assist with lifting and turning patients
  • High risk exposure to blood and body fluids

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort
  • Evaluate overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers
  • Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information
  • Care for patients post-trauma, post-surgical intervention, and with medical comorbidities
  • Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1, with no declinations accepted
  • Black scrubs required; no Mercy-logo attire permitted
  • Blocked scheduling may be approved based on facility requirements
  • RTO must be made up during the assignment and will not be approved during the first week
  • Only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
  • Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius, subject to a reduced bill rate
  • Facility is recognized as a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and Level 2 Stroke Center with Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center certification
