Description

American Traveler is hiring a Travel RN for a Med-Surg/Colorectal Surgery unit requiring 2 years of specialty experience and Epic EMR proficiency.

Details

• Post-surgical unit caring for patients recovering from colorectal and urologic surgery
• Collaborates closely with Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses for ostomy and wound care needs
• Manages post-operative patients with TPN, NG tubes, and central lines
• Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• No block scheduling or 48-hour requests available
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS certification required from AHA or RQI
• 2 years of recent Med-Surg/Colorectal Surgery experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• 1 year of experience accepted if from a 600+ bed academic hospital with a passing competency test score
• Competency testing required for candidates with less than 2 years of experience
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• US SSN required; Canadian SIN not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide post-surgical nursing care to colorectal and urologic surgery patients, including wound and ostomy management support
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Local candidates residing within a 50-mile radius are not eligible, specifically those living in Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Ulster, Warren, and Washington counties
• Facility only accepts medical exemptions for flu vaccination, signed by a licensed professional; personal or religious declinations are not accepted
• Competency test, if required, must be completed within 24 hours of consideration and is sent via email, so an up-to-date email address should be provided
• More than 3 call-outs within a 13-week contract period will result in contract termination, with make-up shifts required within 6 weeks of the last call-out
