Respiratory Therapist (Night)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional licensure and with minimal supervision; evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans.
  • Conduct physician-prescribed treatments utilizing invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation.
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and arterial punctures according to policy.
  • Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, tracheostomy care, and insertion and removal of tracheostomy and endotracheal tubes (emergent and non-emergent).
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines.
  • Record all pertinent treatment information and patient responses in respiratory care records and patient charts; maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and communicate findings to attending and pulmonary physicians.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license in good standing.
  • ACLS certification required prior to hire.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Demonstrated experience operating mechanical ventilators and related respiratory equipment.
  • Ability to perform arterial punctures and interpret results to assess ventilation efficiency.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in an acute care or intensive care setting with exposure to complex respiratory cases.
  • Familiarity with moderate complexity laboratory testing policies and procedures, including specimen handling and quality controls.
  • Experience with video laryngoscope systems for endotracheal intubation.
