Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices.
  • Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans; explain procedures, treatments, and equipment to patients and provide discharge education.
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and routine chest x-ray review.
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care including tube insertion and removal.
  • Perform arterial punctures, 12-Lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, patient responses, respiratory therapy charging, and participate in shift-to-shift handoff communication.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license in the state of Florida.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Proficiency with mechanical ventilation setup, operation, and monitoring across various equipment types.
  • Ability to perform endotracheal intubation via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope.
  • Experience with arterial puncture and interpretation of ventilation efficiency results.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision within the scope of professional licensure.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in a moderate complexity laboratory setting with knowledge of specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation protocols.
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage or similar chest drainage devices.
  • Prior travel or contract assignment experience in an acute care or hospital setting.
