Job Title

Respiratory Therapist (Night Shift)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as physician prescribed
  • Perform arterial punctures, suctioning, chest physiotherapy, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and 12-Lead EKG with basic arrhythmia recognition
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
  • Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope; conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
  • Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
  • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges; communicate patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license within scope of professional practice
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Experience operating a variety of ventilatory and respiratory care equipment
  • Ability to evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in arterial puncture, pulmonary function testing, and patient education
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in moderate complexity laboratory testing procedures including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage and video laryngoscope systems
  • Prior experience in an acute care or intensive care setting
