Respiratory Therapist (Night Shift)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as physician prescribed
  • Perform arterial punctures, suctioning, chest physiotherapy, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and 12-Lead EKG with basic arrhythmia recognition
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
  • Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope; set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment
  • Conduct routine review of patient chest x-rays, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines, and communicate patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds
  • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges in patient records and charts
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license within scope of professional practice
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Experience operating invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment and related respiratory care devices
  • Ability to perform arterial punctures and interpret results to assess ventilation efficiency
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and provide patient education upon discharge
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in moderate complexity laboratory testing including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage and video laryngoscope systems
  • Experience assisting with preventative maintenance and repair of respiratory equipment
