Key Responsibilities

• Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, operating invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
• Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and arterial puncture
• Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
• Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
• Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
• Document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges accurately; communicate patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds

Required Qualifications

• Active New Jersey State Respiratory Therapist licensure required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment and related respiratory care devices
• Ability to perform arterial puncture, endotracheal intubation via free-hand technique and/or video laryngoscope, and pulmonary function studies
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and evaluate patients to recommend appropriate treatment plans

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in a moderate complexity laboratory setting with knowledge of specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation protocols
• Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage procedures
• Experience performing routine chest x-ray review for clinical evaluation purposes
