Key Responsibilities
  • Perform accurate and complete respiratory assessments of patients, including initial screenings, pain assessments, and reassessments appropriate to age, culture, and psychosocial needs.
  • Determine treatment requirements such as type, method, and duration of therapy, precautions, and medication dosages in accordance with physician orders.
  • Monitor patients' physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes; consult with physicians if adverse reactions occur.
  • Conduct cardiopulmonary function tests such as holter monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and lung capacity tests; adjust equipment to optimize therapy outcomes.
  • Prepare and administer respiratory medications based on patient age and clinical condition, demonstrating knowledge of outcomes and side effects.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation in both electronic and chart form; ensure proper equipment cleaning, calibration, and maintenance.
Required Qualifications
  • Current Illinois Respiratory Therapist License required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Respiratory Therapy preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and complete work in a timely manner.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
