Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
  • Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans; explain procedures and equipment to patients and provide discharge education
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and arterial puncture
  • Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care including tube insertion and removal
  • Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; maintain accurate respiratory therapy records and patient charting
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license within the state of practice
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment and respiratory care modalities
  • Ability to perform arterial puncture and interpret results to assess ventilation efficiency
  • Competency in endotracheal intubation via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in a moderate complexity laboratory setting with knowledge of specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage procedures
  • Experience with shift-to-shift walking rounds and hands-off communication protocols
