Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and arterial puncture procedures
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
  • Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines
  • Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
  • Document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges accurately in patient records and communicate findings to attending and pulmonary physicians
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license within the applicable state
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation equipment
  • Ability to perform arterial puncture, endotracheal intubation, and pulmonary function studies
  • Experience with patient assessment, treatment planning, and respiratory care documentation
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in a moderate complexity laboratory setting with knowledge of specimen handling and quality control procedures
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage and video laryngoscope systems
  • Experience performing shift-to-shift walking rounds and hands-off communication protocols
