Respiratory Therapist (Night)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as physician prescribed
  • Perform patient assessments, develop treatment recommendations, and educate patients on procedures, treatments, and equipment including discharge education
  • Conduct chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and routine chest x-ray review
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, endotracheal tube insertion and removal, arterial puncture, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
  • Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
  • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges; communicate findings to attending and pulmonary physicians and participate in shift-to-shift handoff communication
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license within scope of professional practice
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen delivery systems, and aerosol and nebulizer devices
  • Ability to perform arterial puncture, 12-Lead EKG, and basic arrhythmia recognition
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during night shift hours
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience assisting with advanced procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, and chest tube placement
  • Familiarity with moderate complexity laboratory testing policies and procedures including specimen handling and quality controls
  • Experience with PleurX catheter drainage and video laryngoscope systems
