Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional licensure and with minimal supervision
  • Conduct physician-prescribed treatments utilizing invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, arterial puncture, and 12-Lead EKG with basic arrhythmia recognition
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
  • Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope; set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment
  • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges in patient records and communicate findings to attending and pulmonary physicians
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license in good standing
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen delivery devices, and nebulizer systems
  • Ability to perform arterial puncture and interpret results to assess ventilation efficiency
  • Experience with cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines
  • Ability to perform shift-to-shift handoff communication and maintain accurate clinical documentation
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in moderate complexity laboratory testing including specimen handling, quality controls, and equipment maintenance
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage procedures
  • Experience assisting with bronchoscopy and percutaneous tracheostomy procedures
