Job Title

Respiratory Therapist (Night)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, operating invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
  • Conduct physician-prescribed treatments including chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and arterial puncture
  • Perform and assist with advanced procedures including bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, endotracheal tube insertion and removal, 12-Lead EKG, and basic arrhythmia recognition
  • Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
  • Educate patients on the purpose and procedure of treatments, tests, and equipment, including discharge education
  • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, respiratory therapy charges, and communicate findings during shift-to-shift handoff rounds
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license within the applicable state scope of practice
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment and respiratory care modalities
  • Ability to perform arterial puncture, tracheostomy care, and endotracheal intubation via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and evaluate patients to recommend treatment plans
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in moderate complexity laboratory testing procedures including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage and chest tube placement assistance
  • Prior experience in an acute care or intensive care setting
