Respiratory Therapist – Night Shift

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional licensure and with minimal supervision; evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans.
  • Conduct physician-prescribed respiratory treatments utilizing invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation.
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, arterial punctures, and routine chest x-ray reviews.
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes in both emergent and non-emergent situations.
  • Perform 12-Lead EKG acquisition, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines.
  • Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; maintain accurate respiratory therapy records, patient charting, and therapy charging documentation.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Demonstrated competency with invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation equipment.
  • Ability to perform arterial punctures and interpret blood gas results to assess ventilation efficiency.
  • Experience with endotracheal intubation via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope system.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in a moderate complexity laboratory setting with knowledge of specimen handling, quality controls, and equipment maintenance protocols.
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage procedures or similar chest drainage devices.
  • Strong communication skills for shift-to-shift handoff reporting and collaboration with attending and pulmonary physicians.
