Key Responsibilities- Systematically gather and evaluate patient information to develop and modify individualized respiratory care plans based on ongoing assessment and reassessment.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments and oxygen therapy, including management of mechanical ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP units with appropriate patient parameter selection.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures including ABG collection, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function testing per ATS standards, and EKGs.
- Assist with flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy and support implementation of the VAP bundle consistently per protocol.
- Provide patient and family education on cardiopulmonary conditions, medications, equipment use, and discharge instructions; evaluate understanding and readiness to learn.
- Coordinate and communicate patient care with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, delegating to other providers as appropriate.
Required Qualifications- Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory Therapy program.
- Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care, or eligible.
- Current Massachusetts Respiratory Therapist license required.
- ACLS certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- NRP certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- PALS certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Experience / Skills- Prior clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist in an acute care or hospital setting.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and electronic health record use.
