Key Responsibilities- Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as physician prescribed
- Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry and capnography monitoring, and pulmonary function studies
- Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
- Perform arterial punctures, 12-Lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
- Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
- Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges; communicate patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds
Required Qualifications- Active Respiratory Therapist license within scope of professional practice
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment and related respiratory care devices
- Ability to perform arterial punctures, endotracheal intubation via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope, and interpret chest x-rays
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage patient care documentation accurately
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience in a moderate complexity laboratory setting with knowledge of specimen handling, quality controls, and related documentation
- Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage procedures
- Experience with high-acuity or intensive care respiratory patient populations
