Job Title

Respiratory Therapist (Night)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as physician prescribed
  • Perform arterial punctures, suctioning, chest physiotherapy, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and 12-Lead EKG with basic arrhythmia recognition
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
  • Insert and remove endotracheal tubes via free hand technique and/or video laryngoscope; set up, operate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment
  • Educate patients on the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment, including discharge education for home care
  • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges in patient records and charts; communicate findings to attending and pulmonary physicians
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license within the state of Ohio
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
  • Competency in operating and maintaining a variety of ventilatory and respiratory care equipment
  • Ability to perform routine chest x-ray review and interpret results to determine need for further evaluation
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision within the scope of professional licensure
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in moderate complexity laboratory testing including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage and similar chest drainage devices
  • Experience with shift-to-shift walking rounds and hands-off communication protocols
