Job Title

Respiratory Therapist (Night)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care including administration of prescribed treatments using invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
  • Perform arterial punctures, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, chest physiotherapy, and patient suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods
  • Manage mechanical ventilation including setup, self-testing, operation, and monitoring of various ventilatory equipment; perform insertion and removal of endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform 12-lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines and conduct routine review of patient chest x-rays
  • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges; communicate patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license within the state of Ohio
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Demonstrated competency with invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation and airway management
  • Ability to perform arterial punctures and interpret blood gas results to assess ventilation efficiency
  • Experience performing pulmonary function studies, chest physiotherapy, and patient suctioning techniques
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and function effectively during night shift hours
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience with moderate complexity laboratory testing procedures including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage and video laryngoscope systems
  • Experience assisting with bronchoscopy and percutaneous tracheostomy procedures
