    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as physician-prescribed
    • Perform arterial punctures, suctioning, chest physiotherapy, oximetry, capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and 12-Lead EKG with basic arrhythmia recognition
    • Assist with procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, chest tube placement, and PleurX catheter drainage where applicable
    • Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes, as well as endotracheal tube insertion and removal via free-hand technique and/or video laryngoscope
    • Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
    • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges; communicate patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds
    Required Qualifications
    • Current, active Virginia Respiratory Therapist license
    • Current BLS and ACLS certification
    • Demonstrated competency in mechanical ventilation management, both invasive and non-invasive
    • Ability to perform arterial punctures and interpret results to assess ventilation efficiency
    • Experience with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency airway management
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience assisting with bronchoscopy and percutaneous tracheostomy procedures
    • Familiarity with moderate complexity laboratory testing protocols including pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases
    • Experience with PleurX catheter or similar pleural drainage devices
