Respiratory Therapist (Night)

Key Responsibilities- Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
- Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry and capnography monitoring, and pulmonary function studies
- Perform arterial puncture, 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and routine review of patient chest x-rays
- Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines; perform endotracheal tube insertion and removal via free-hand technique and/or video laryngoscope
- Document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges accurately; communicate patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds
Required Qualifications- Current, active Virginia Respiratory Therapist license
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Demonstrated competency in mechanical ventilation setup, operation, and monitoring
- Ability to perform arterial puncture and interpret results to assess ventilation efficiency
- Experience with laboratory testing protocols including pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases (for applicable facilities)
Preferred Experience / Skills- Prior experience in an acute care or intensive care setting
- Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage and advanced airway management techniques
- Experience with preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of respiratory therapy equipment
