Job Description & Requirements
Certified Respiratory Therapist - (CRT)
StartDate: 6/15/2026 Available Shifts: 12 D/E Pay Rate: $2166.00 - $2232.00

This Respiratory Therapist opportunity is based in the Clairton, Pennsylvania area, offering the best of both worlds: a close-knit community setting with quick access to the amenities and energy of the greater Pittsburgh region. Clairton is set along the Monongahela River and just a short drive from scenic areas like Dead Man’s Hollow, a 450-acre conservation area known for its wooded trails and peaceful natural surroundings. Residents and professionals enjoy easy access to outdoor recreation, historic river communities, and all that a major metropolitan area provides, including dining, sports, arts, and cultural events in nearby Pittsburgh. The facility serves a broad community and provides a range of inpatient and outpatient services, giving Respiratory Therapists exposure to diverse patient populations. You will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team that values evidence-based practice, clear communication, and continuous learning. The environment is supportive and team-oriented, making it an excellent fit for both experienced therapists and those looking to further develop their careers in respiratory care. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering comprehensive respiratory care under the direction of physicians and in coordination with nursing and other allied health professionals. Typical responsibilities include administering oxygen and aerosol therapies, managing bronchial hygiene, drawing and analyzing arterial blood gases, performing noninvasive ventilation, and initiating and monitoring mechanical ventilation. You may participate in rapid response and code teams and play an integral role in stabilizing and supporting critically ill patients. Your typical day may include performing respiratory assessments, adjusting ventilator settings based on patient status and clinical protocols, educating patients and families on respiratory conditions and home equipment, and documenting care in the electronic medical record. Depending on the specific unit, patient ratios are designed to promote safe, high-quality care, with attention to matching caseloads to acuity levels. Therapists may work across multiple care areas, such as medical-surgical units, intensive care units, the emergency department, and step-down units, providing varied clinical experiences and opportunities to build specialized skills. Shifts often include a mix of days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, with full-time schedules commonly based on 8- or 12-hour shifts. Rotating schedules allow Respiratory Therapists to experience different clinical settings and teamwork dynamics. The facility emphasizes consistent communication handoffs and interdepartmental cooperation to support smooth transitions of care throughout the hospital.
